THREE DAYS TRAINING PROGRAMME ON “LIVELIHOOD IMPROVEMENT OF TRIBAL FARMERS OF MIZORAM THROUGH CULTIVATION OF HIGH YIELDING VARIETIES OF RICE AND MAIZE” UNDER TSP FROM 09.08.2016 TO 11.08.2016

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Mizoram Centre organized three days training programme on “Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Farmers of Mizoram through Cultivation of High Yielding Varieties of Rice and Maize” under TSP at experimental farm, KVK, Lengpui, Mamit District of Mizoram during 09.08.2016 to 11.08.2016. Welcome speech was delivered by Dr. M. Thoithoi Devi, Scientist (Agronomy) then Dr. T. Boopathi, Scientist (Agricultural Entomology) delivered a speech on importance of adopting improved high yielding varieties of rice and maize along with improved cultivation practices for increasing yield and income of tribal farmers. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Samik Chowdhury, Technical Officer (GKMS). Dr. Henry Saplalrinliana KVK Scientist (Soil Science), Dr. Rohit Sukla KVK Scientist (Horticulture), Md. Mintul Ali KVK Scientist (Fisheries), Mr. Vanlalhruaia KVK Scientist (Plant Protection) attended the inaugural programme session of the training programme. Forty-five farmers attended this training programme. After this inaugural session technical session has started. Importance of high yielding varieties of rice and maize, package of practices of rice and maize, management of diseases and insect pests and cultural practices have been covered in 3 days training programme.
